Rincon el Soto

In this competition for a cultural center in a small city in the middle of Spain the central idea was to revive a rather sullen and monochrome town with a flickering colorful gem that contrasts the surroundings. A glass-bottom pool above the third level breaks and reflects the light into the lobby which leads to the sunken auditorium clad in the local stone. Thus it becomes a variation of grotto as a folly in the baroque garden.
